In 2004, Gary ran into a structural problem when he first started Williams Lee Group, which was a company that focused on helping entrepreneurs and helping other small businesses start up in Newfoundland and Labrador. The company was building their team and hoped to have 5 or 6 people. However, this did not happen because of the many obstacles that Gary faced in the beginning. Some of these obstacles were:

That same year, Gary was also involved with another company called Prime Property Management Inc. After working there for a few years, he realized that he was working alone without a team there to help him out. He soon realized that working alone was not the right thing to do and set out to work on building a team at Williams Lee Group.

In 2005, Gary went to Ireland to help the company he worked with (Prime Property Management Inc.) in that area of the country. After spending time and learning from fellow entrepreneurs, Gary was able to move on to other countries again in 2006. This time he went to Russia, where he spent around a year abroad.

In 2007, Gary moved back to Newfoundland and started Williams Lee Group again after nearly 2 years of being away for business. Shortly after returning, he began to search for a few more people to work in his company.

In the beginning, many of the people that Gary worked with had knowledge about real estate or law. Therefore, Williams Lee Group focused on real estate and law from their office located on Water Street in downtown St. John’s. After hiring a few more people, Gary realized that the work could not be done by just 5 or 6 people. So, he decided to join forces with another business called Legal Vision Inc.
